Hеr Granny (Angela Lansbury) weaves vivid tаlеѕ οf folklore аnd fantasy wіth warnings οf fаntаѕtіс beasts thаt lurk surrounded bу men аnd foretelling thе fate οf аll young girls whο stray frοm thе path. “Thе Company οf Wolves” іѕ a unique excursion іntο horror–bathed іn sensual imagery, punctuated wіth nightmarish unique effects, аnd destined tο become a modern cult classic. In mу opinion, “Thе Company οf Wolves” іѕ thе best werewolf ѕhοw еνеr mаdе, аnd one οf thе best Fantasy movies frοm thе ’80s. NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED. What the heck does that snake do in this video? Looks like a boa constrictor to me but I am not sure. It is no european snake for sure and very much looks out of context in that forrest (it isn’t the tropics after all). Otherwise excellent show though.
I like how this show keeps showing animals the world over. from the frogs and owls in the woods to the birds in the well.
I reckon the sex scene symbolizes Rosaleen learning that sex isn’t all terrible. Like Grandmother teaches her to be wary of being abused or attacked, and her protect teaches her that not all men are terrible and women can be terrible too.
Grandma’s line cracked me up. “If there is a naked man in the woods run like the devil is after you.” I reckon I’d run even without the tale. xD

Yes, Granny told her priest’s bastards were the worst, they meet the devil in the forest. This contrasts with the portrayal of the priest and the nature of his transgression in Rosaleen’s tale of the wounded she-wolf later on.
She’s told her Granny is filling her with a one-sided dread of men: ‘…if there’s a beast in men, it meets its match in women too’
Rosaleen progresses from stealing her sister’s lipstick (to mimic maturity), and dreaming of fearful ancient wives’ tales, to internalising her protect’s advice about her own fascination and desire.
The dream describes Rosaleen as a seductive driver introducing the young boy to a mysterious figure of power, whose brew embroils the boy in the forest.

I reckon everyone should experience this dark & magical fairy tale at least once in their lives! Whenever I wake up, try and take the shape of, turn into the whole wide world I made up…

Because they are the neutral minded people you have renowned since childhood in that department. I mean you know they had sex because they had you, you know they know about sex because they plotting you about it (well my parents didnt lecture me perse, television and movies did when I was 4
) but they never have done or said anything sexual infront of you infront of you. The plotting of even hearing them makes you cringe just because its so unusual. Atleast in many parts of the world it is.
What does “shouldn’t be” even mean as she is DREAMING?
