Brought to you by Heikki Walden of www.torontoloftblog.com. On April 24th, at the Toronto Green Living Show, four of Toronto’s mayoral candidates spoke about their environmental platforms and answered a series of questions presented by moderator Roger Petersen. In this clip, the four candidates answer: “The province has been pushing for green jobs, and wants to be a leader in that. How would you, as mayor of the city of Toronto, make Toronto a leader in the province in generating green jobs?”

On October 17, 2009, over 500 people attended the “Rally for our Ancient Forests , the Climate, and BC Forestry Jobs” in the pouring rain in Victoria, British Columbia. It was considered, by one campaigner, to have been “bc’s largest environmental rally in the lousiest weather!” Protesters were calling on the BC Government to save old-growth forests on bcs south coast (Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland), ensure sustainable second-growth logging and ban raw log exports. The Rally and March was organized by the Western Canada Wilderness Committee (WCWC) and included speakers such as Eli Enns (Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Park coordinator), Gisele Martin (Tla-o-qui-aht tourism operator and cultural/environmental educator), Arnie Bercov (Pulp, Paper, and Woodworkers of Canada), Valerie Langer (Friends of Clayoquot Sound and forestethics forest campaigner), Jens Wieting (Sierra Club of BC forest Campaigner), Jane Sterk (BC Green Party leader), Rob Fleming (NDP Environment critic), Scott Fraser (NDP MLA for Alberni-Pacific Rim), Annette Tanner (WCWC Mid-Island chapter), Tara Sawatsky (Wilderness Committee Forest and Marine Campaigner), and Ken Wu (Wilderness Committee Campaign Director, Victoria office).
