@Occulu There are no potential health risks in Earthships with regards to tires. Go to the Earthship website and click on the Buildings tab, then click on Offgassing. The most sustainable and economically viable building on the planet is the Global Model Earthship.

  • Occulu says:

Thank you for the explanation – so what kind of house are you proposing that one build with these strawbales? Im looking for the best way to build a plus house with as small a carbon footprint as possible – as cheaply as possible. Untill I was made aware of the potential health risks of building with cartires, I thought the earthship was exactly that.

  • earthship says:

@Occulu strawbales are insulation, rammed earth is thermal mass. Insulation does NOT hold temperature. Strawbales (insulation) prevent temperature from moving from one side to another. Rammed earth is thermal mass, it actually HOLDS temperature.

  • Occulu says:

Thank you for the suggestion – as far as I can tell from reading about it, strawbale does not have the heat retaining ability that the earthship concept needs to work.

  • odin422 says:

@Occulu strawbale is the simple answer

  • Occulu says:

Hello earthship people! I am seriously contemplating becoming one of you, and building my own earthship in Denmark – I do however have one concern about the use of car tires as building material – car tires consist mainly of oils – some of which cause cancer, how do you – 40 or 50 years down the road -prevent leakeage into the house or the ground around it? and have you considered alternatives like tubes filled with earth or rammed earth walls?

@insAneTunA I always ask people, how many slaps in the face do you need to get before you realize that you are getting abused??? How clear is it to you that those who are in control do not want you to be able to be self sustainable and happy and educated enough to realize that our governments failed in any way possible?

That is why I believe it’s good that these videos show that it’s possible to live in peace and happy together with the ones in control, and that it’s not a battle.

    Peace, iT

Europe is even worse, I live in Europe, the Netherlands and we have one project here, in Groningen to be exact., but they say it is one of a kind, because we have no room for it. But the technology can be used in different ways, but is ignored by the ones i control. With that particular project he problems with regulations where overhanded to the Minister of that time, called Jacqueline Cramer, that was more then one year ago, now she’s unemployed, but never of any use to begin with.

    @csreeves
Hell, at some point in the foreseeable future, those paper pushing bureaucrats will be begging YOU to teach THEM how to house for and provide food for their own families. (Perhaps you’ll decide to put THEM on a two year waiting list and then make them fill out all sorts of forms, and pay for and submit to psychological evaluations to determine if they’re even fit to take care of themselves without the watchful eye of the government making certain it’s done properly)

  • csreeves says:

I’m guessing there will come a point when we stop ASKING these bureaucratic bitches if we, the people, can stop polluting and start taking care of ourselves and our communities…and just start DOING it!

I think a tipping point is approaching where people will decide to shelter themselves in something radically efficient, like an Earthship, and stop living in fear of paper/man-made rules. At some point there will be too many “rule breakers” for them to do anything other than watch in amazement

Hello friends, I live in Parry Sound Ontario Canada, I was going to buy 8.13 acres and build a basic geodesic dome tent and Seguin Township doesn’t even allow for me to build a wood platform for the dome. Cant even put a trailer on your own land. It’s oppressive hoarse crap! Love the videos guys, I will find my pocket of freedom:)
