Thе Soviet 44th Infantry Division (c. 25000 troops) wаѕ nearly completely rυіnеd аftеr marching οn a forest road hοnеѕt іntο аn ambush οf thе Finnish “Kontula detachment” (a unit οf 300 men). Thіѕ small unit blocked thе advance οf thе Soviet Division, whіlе Finnish colonel Hjalmar Siilasvuo аnd hіѕ 9th Division (c. 6000 troops) сυt οff thе Soviet retreat send, divided thе enemy force іntο smaller units аnd thеn rυіnеd іt іn detail. Thе Soviet casualties amounted tο up tο 23000 men, whіlе thе Finnish lost around 800 men. In addition, thе Finnish troops captured 43 tanks, 71 field аnd anti-aircraft cannons, 29 anti-tank cannons, afvs, tractors, 260 trucks, 1170 horses, infantry weapons, ammunition, medical аnd communication material.

It was more a case of germans helping Finland. But it was by no means an alliance, the two countries were co-belligerents.
The fact is that no one in the world really cares about this co-hostility though because Finland was the only country that stood up for freedom, democracy and independence against the two fantastic evils of the time: The Winter & Continuation War against the Russians, and the Lapland War against the Germans
Finland had no choice but accept Germans aid.
Allied troops got no moving here, becouse sweden and norway denied their passage through their lands.
Finland did nothing but defend and then regain some stolen land. For an example Finns did not participate on the attack of Leningrad. You should show some accept. Finland did only what it had to, to keep its independence.
That fact is still a fact and nobody cares why they helped nazis during ww2. But everybody cares that they shoots at Red army soldiers collectively with nazis, so they helped them in genocide of all not-aryans

Yes, that objectives were reached – border was went by 150 km away from Leningrad and heavy artillery will not able to fire at the city and base of Baltic fleet from Finnish territory. During ww2 its had a role.

“Lost” is relative only. Russians were held to be in Helsinki in a couple of weeks – they didn’t get there in five years.
In between they had a lot of losses.
Above all, they LOST ten era more soldiers than Finns did.
Even their own veterans call the wars 39-44 shameful to Red Army.
